KidGlov, a boutique, full-service advertising, branding and content marketing agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., recently welcomed Eddy Badrina, CEO of Eden Green Technology, to its podcast, Agency for Change. The episode explored how Eden Green, a vertical greenhouse company, is using technology to bring the farm closer to the table.

“Access to food, food insecurity and climate change are big challenges and Eden Green Technology has some incredible solutions,” said Lyn Wineman, president and chief strategist at KidGlov. “It was great to sit down with Eddy Badrina on the podcast to learn about the innovative ways his team is helping make farming more productive and more sustainable.”

Eden Green Technology’s mission is to change the way they farm produce to feed people with local solutions. Their sustainable and scalable vertical greenhouse technology can be deployed anywhere in the world and produces healthy and safe fruits and vegetables with an eye toward environmental sustainability.

Lettuce is an $8 billion industry in the U.S. Eden Green is looking to make that industry more sustainable, more accessible, and more profitable. On their 1.5-acre greenhouses, they harvest two million pounds of leafy greens each year using only 90,000 gallons of water. A traditional 40–50-acre farm produces the same number of greens but uses 900,000 gallons of water and sees up to 30% waste due to quality specs, disease and other reasons.

“We combine the economics of a greenhouse with the density of a vertical farm,” said Badrina. “Our patented technology creates a controlled environment and optimal balance of nutrients for the plants. The result is lower resource costs and a more affordable product.”
