Baker & HostetlerThe San Francisco office grew Jeewon Kim Serrato, the former United States director of data protection, privacy and cyber security Norton Rose Fulbright. Serrato will lead Baker & Hostetler's new digital transformation and data economics practice, which is part of the company's digital assets and data management practice. Her previous experience includes working as Chief Privacy Officer at Fannie Mae and as Head Privacy Executive of the RELX Group. Serrato advises clients in the areas of data protection, cyber security, data monetization and data science.

Retired Supreme Court Justice of the Los Angeles District Reva G. Goetz joined JAMS at his Los Angeles Resolution Center. Since 2015 she has been working as a full-time practitioner for alternative dispute resolution with a focus on estate, estate, fiduciary and family law. At the beginning of her career, Goetz worked as a judicial officer.

A group of three Kirkland & Ellis Lawyers followed suit DechertLos Angeles-based product liability and mass practices. Kimberly Branscome and Jay Bhimani join as a partner and Benjamin Sadun joins as a lawyer. Branscome will also act as the managing partner in Los Angeles.

Judge West added retired judge David W. Abbott of the Sacramento County Superior Court as neutral in its Sacramento office. Abbott will assist with mediation, arbitration, and private decisions related to product liability, professional negligence, unlawful death, malicious insurance, personal injury, and complex litigation and coordinated actions. He was a judge for 18 years.

Melody LembkeIrvine School of Law, a retired librarian for debt collection services at the University of California, was one of four recipients of the American Association of Law Libraries"Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award. The award is given to legal information professionals who serve the library sector, who support AALL and who contribute to important specialist literature. Lembke worked at the UC Irvine Law Library for 10 years before retiring in 2019.

Atheria law brought Christopher Wong as an associate in his San Francisco office. In his practice, Wong focuses on professional liability insurance and primarily represents insurers in matters relating to error and omission policies. Previously, he was an associate at Hayes Scott Bonino Ellingson Guslani Simonson & Clause.

Based in Palo Alto Pamela Martinson, a partner with Sidley Austinbecame president of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers. She will serve for the 2020-21 term. She entered college in 2007 and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2016. At Sidley, Martinson handles global finance, emerging business and venture capital issues.

Four California lawyers were promoted to partner with DLA Piper– –Patrick O'Malley and Melissa A. Reinckens in San Diego and Jennifer Kristen Lee and Erik R. Führer in Silicon Valley. O’Malley is a litigator, Reinckens focuses on intellectual property and technology, Lee takes care of corporate and securities law, and Leader takes care of intellectual property and technology.

Boutique in Los Angeles Sauer & Wagner promoted lawyers Gregory Barchie, Amir Torkamani and Sonya Goodwin to partnership. Barchie and Torkamani are involved in litigation in the areas of commerce, entertainment, real estate, employment, and intellectual property. Goodwin advises employers and employees on wage and hour issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unlawful dismissal, defamation, deliberate infliction of emotional stress and breach of contract.

Former Dykema Gossett member Gregory K. Jones took on the role of shareholder Spread Yocca Carlson & Rauth. He will work in the company's bankruptcy and restructuring practice, where he will focus primarily on preferential and fraudulent transfer lawsuits. He will be based in the company's Los Angeles office.
