Suspected Instagram fraudster Ramon Abbas, a.k.a Hushpuppi, who was arrested last month in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for alleged internet fraud, has secured the service of a leading Chicago lawyer, Gal Pissetzky.
Court documents received from THIS DAY, Wednesday, showed that Hushpuppi, a senior partner at Pissetzky & Berliner, Pissetzky, was in Chicago to relieve him of several million dollars in allegations of fraud brought against him by the United States authorities.
Pissetzky was appointed to the bar in 2002 and has been active in Chicago since 2002. His company's website says he was detained in high-ranking cases and recognized by major American media as a legal advisor in serious criminal matters.
Hushpuppi, who was handed over by the Dubai police to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on July 2, came to the United States on July 3 and first appeared in Chicago.
Although American prosecutors said he would still be transferred to Los Angeles in the coming weeks, he decided to hire a top lawyer in Chicago to guide him through the process of being transferred to Los Angeles.
The document also revealed that Pissetzky first appeared for Hushpuppi at the U.S. District Court for Northern Illinois on July 6.
