Ex-Irvine Police Officer Pleads No Contest in Off-Duty Assault in Torrance – NBC Los Angeles

A former Irvine police officer did not plead for a duty-free attack in Torrance on Friday two summers ago.

The 34-year-old Paul George Gebert was immediately sentenced to 30 days of Caltrans work, six months of anger management, and three years probation, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Gebert – who was an off-duty officer at the Irvine Police Department at the time – went to Torrance on July 8, 2018 while off duty, saw the victim on her couch, and started beating the prosecutor.

The man who sustained serious injuries was a friend of Gebert's girlfriend, according to deputy district attorney William Chung.
